Oh My Stars... I am loving the earlier prompt but I had forgotten that this would mean an earlier party too! Trying to make dinner and keep up with the cray cray twitter party is... well - if you tried to chat with me and I didn't respond, just know I was probably stirring something and totally missed it! Tonight - we have our Five Minute Friday prompt, and at the end... I will announce the WINNER of my Giveaway of a signed copy of AWAKE by Noel Brewer Yeatts. We all write using a prompt that Lisa posts at 10pm Thursday night (EST.) I'm loving the community of amazing bloggers and the creativity that flows from these magical Five Minutes!
So - here goes: Five Minute Friday - MERCY...
{GO}
There is just something about entertaining the Presence of the Lord... about making room for Him and inviting Him in... I believe that we can spend time with Him and fill up - and then, as we go about our days, leak out wherever we go!
I want people drawn to me because of Him. I believe in the power of being a Bench... or offering a place to sit and talk and love and laugh... a place where two gathered, becomes Three and the seats around us can transform into His Mercy Seat.
I have always been drawn to that portion of Scripture... the place where the Spirit of God hovers... where prayers and worship is poured out and the holy and sacred can look a lot like flesh bowed down...
It was the beginning of an awakening for me... back in 1995. I was a new Mama and oh sweet Jesus - if there is ever a time you find that you need Mercy - well, for me - it was then! I knew in order to raise this human up right... I had no skills... I would be placing her on His Mercy Seat daily, again and again... and myself right there with her!
And then this song... this song was played over and over and sung in the shower, and rocked in those midnight hours and it saturated our hearts and our spirits and our home... and we have never ever been the same since!
Whenever I feel low on hope... this is what my I am reminded of...
"...Are you livin' where hope has not been?
You're lost in the curse of a
Lifetime of sin
Lovely illusions they never come true
I know where there's a place
Of mercy for you
He said that you could come into his
Presence without fear
Into this holy place
Where his presence hovers near..."{STOP}
Honestly - this song will undo you and put you back together again... filled fresh with Mercy that heals and strengthens and uplifts... with Mercy that answers prayers and moves mountains, and loves you to the
I'm runnin'... are you? Oh how I pray that you will join me!
As a BONUS - for those of you who entered to win the signed copy of AWAKE by Noel Brewer Yeatts on the blog earlier this week... we played it old school and counted the comments and had our girlie pick a number, so without further ado...
The winner is...
Rebekah Ellis

mercies given when you are a new mom are the most treasured. I remember those days, hours and minutes like they were yesterday. Thank you for sharing my friend!

Isn't it interesting how motherhood can do that? I remember it pushing me to examine it all, and to allow me mercy for my own father who had hurt me growing up with his busyness in ministry. It allowed me to see how much he loved me and how he failed and how I do it too with my own kids. It made me want to do better but it also made me realize that when we fail, we need mercy and grace because it's bound to happen. I'm so glad I learned those lessons and reconciled with my dad fully before he passed away. This post reminded me of that. Sorry I hijacked your comments on a rabbit trail. My mind is a tad adrenaline soaked.
ReplyDeleteGirrrrlll... you can hijack my blog or comments ANY. TIME.
DeleteLove you so!
These were words I needed to hear. A reminder to a mom with a girl still small (well, sort of) that her heart and her life need to be placed on His mercy seat each day. Not just prayed for, this is different. This is a stronger command for her heart and her life to be for Him. Thank you for this blessing and reminder.
ReplyDeleteI remember playing "The Mercy Seat" over and over again during the revival and just weeping. So thankful that I get to come again daily, multiple times a day to freely receive His mercy and grace.
ReplyDeleteLove the lyrics of that song!
ReplyDeleteThe Mercy seat. I love that picture and what the entire tabernacle represents. I need to run to that mercy seat more often!
ReplyDelete"I believe that we can spend time with Him and fill up - and then, as we go about our days, leak out wherever we go!" I fill up every single morning and I'm amazed every single day how hard it is to hold onto him!! Thank you for your beautiful words!

ReplyDeleteI love this and you! People ARE drawn to you because of Him. You've "leaked" His love, compassion, and grace all over me, and I've only known you a short time. Beautiful words!

ReplyDeleteBtw, I knew I was meant to read Awake so I went right ahead and purchased the book and I'm loving every word!!!
So lovely to meet you, too, Mia, and thanks for this inspirational post. Like you, I believe when we fill up with Him, others will see Him in us.
ReplyDeleteI was in high school when that song was being played over and over in my home. Love looking back. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso. What you said about being the bench and His mercy seat for others. Holy moly...I'm just going to soak in those words for a bit. Powerful stuff.
Loved the song.
