It's been happening ever so slowly, for years now. This awakening... this stirring awake and this passion churning from deep inside... this desire to really honestly make a difference!
The thought of living this life small (albeit 'safe') was beginning to feel like skin stretched too thin... I couldn't stay there. Something had to give! Fear was getting kicked to the curb and when that happens, there is little room for Small. Simple - yes... please! But Small (as in insignificant and stuck), no thank you.
You see, I believe we are all called to Greatness! We have the Greatest One living on the inside of us...and oh how He longs to just leak on out and make everything Great.
He has been wooing and romancing me for quite some time... proving He is good... that He is in a good mood and that He can be trusted. His love is steadfast and sure... it is All In and Full On and it is courting us to wake up and to let Him fill us to overflowing... to leak out with Him and to be the change that is needed.
My little family is diverse in how we give... both locally and globally... and even though we live on a limited income, we know the value of giving! But it can seem like too much! When your passion arises and you begin to see human and sex trafficking... poor and orphaned babies... poverty and bondage both across oceans and just around corners... it can feel too heavy. After all - I am just one person... it can hit hard, and then slowly - if we don't hold eye contact with the issue... it can fade to our peripheral and get pushed back into the darkness of being ignored.
We get so caught up in our daily lives... in our bossy lists and things to do - we lose sight of what is at the top of His list... of the things we can partner with Him to do!
The worlds' problems are huge... the injustice and unfairness and malnourished starving is all around us... but when we remember that we are here for a purpose... when we recall that He has called us to be His hands and His feet and it's HIM and Him alone who can break through.. when we remember that we do nothing without Him coming along and doing it with us... well, then it becomes a little more doable. After all - it's not all up to us...
As Heidi Baker says, just Love the one in front of you!
Noel Brewer Yeatts does this...

Karrilee, I loved the way you expressed our ability to so easily forget (or ignore) "...it can hit hard, and then slowly - if we don't hold eye contact with the issue... it can fade to our peripheral and get pushed back into the darkness of being ignored."
ReplyDeleteMay our eyes be opened to the needs around us. Blessed to be on this journey with you :)
We truly can make a difference! With our voices, with our love, with the start of just one and empowered by an almighty God!
ReplyDeleteLoved your post, Karrilee. Have you changed your space here? It looks fabulous! :)
Oh, girl! I need to read this book! God has been stirring up so much of this in me lately! I want to be AWAKE!

DeleteI have just started blogging with World Help, and the two chapters I read of the book were amazing. I can so relate to how hard it can be to see how we can make a difference. I want to be AWAKE! I want to live with passion for helping others as God has helped others.
ReplyDeleteDeanna... I am so glad you are blogging with WorldHelp too! It really can be so overwhelming... we can lull ourselves back to sleep just with the enormity of the problems... but I am with you! I want to be awake too! I've got you entered! Check back on Friday! (and I hope you will join in on the Online Study too!)
DeleteThis is all I have been thinking about lately and then I see your post on facebook....and read exactly what God has been putting on my heart! I love how He does that! I too want to be fully AWAKE! Shine on girl!
ReplyDeleteAllison, I love how He does that too! I've got you entered!
DeleteOh friend of mine ... you know I want to be Awake! I can't wait to read this - one way or the other - and have another voice of encouragement in my life. I know just what you mean about the safe life feeling too small. It is time to be out and doing the work of our Father. Being His hands and feet. Being the grace that has been given so freely to us. Love your words and that you are part of this project!
ReplyDeleteOh sweet friend... I've got you entered! I can't wait to meet in(rl) and be fully Awake together!
