SHINE ON

"The LORD bless you, and keep you;
The LORD make His face Shine On you;
And be gracious to you;
The LORD life up His Countenance on you,
And give you peace."
                                                                         ~ Numbers 6:24-26 NASB

"God be gracious to us and bless us,
And cause His fave to shine upon us - Selah.
That Your way may be known on the earth,
Your salvation among all nations."
                                                                ~ Psalm 67:1-2 NASB

"Let your light shine before men in such a way
that they may see your good works,
and glorify your Father
who is in heaven."
                                                                  ~ Matthew 5:16 NASB

How to SHINE ON:

A Manifesto of sorts on how to be a light... Hint, keep it simple!

How do we shine?  Sure... we've all heard of the pregnancy glow that expectant Mama's have... and while I think that, in fact, our countenance SHOULD carry within it a certain Shine... it's how we live our lives and hearts yielded to Him that draws the attention of others and stirs them up to want to burn brightly too!

In the Old Testament, we find that His light shined on us... but in the New Testament - He lives within us!  Recently I heard a Pastor share how in the New Testament, we are no longer a reflector, but we house the very Source of Light!  I loved that!

Because - as with most things in the Kingdom... it has very little to do with what we DO... but everything to do with Whose we ARE!  When we are so filled up to overflowing with His Love and His Grace... when we have spent time in His Presence and draw in close to His heart... the Source of Him in us... well - it just leaks out all over the place!

It's in your Eyes... and how they connect and linger... just hold a bit longer - letting someone know that they are truly seen...

It's in your Smile... how friendly and inviting it is... how full of joy and peace and assurance... welcoming and extending friendship...

It's in your Words... how they speak life and stir up hope and wrap up in safety the hearts of those around you...  how they speak truth in love, gently - not to wound, but to woo... to help birth dreams and grow hope...

It's in how you Act... in the grocery store, on the phone, in the car... at home, at work, at church...

It's in how you Fess Up and Live Real and Ask Forgiveness for the times when how you acted was not really the kind of Beacon of light you were hoping to be!

You see... to Shine On - you must be willing to be seen... on the good days and on those not so good days! The world doesn't need to see Pharisees... they are looking for honesty and messy truth... they are hungry for the authentic... for the real and the less than perfect!  We want to be Jesus with skin on... radiant and full of grace...

but we Shine most brightly when we do that within the broken confines of our own redeemed flesh - not trying to clean it all up - but living it out loud - showing that we, too, are in the process of Becoming!

To live Real requires courage... and too many shy away from Brave... too many try to Blend In, or worse yet, Cut Down in order to Feel Tall...we Shine On when we choose to Speak Life... to call forth the good and encourage each other... to build each other to grow into all He has designed us to be!

So I encourage you to press into Him... to follow His lead and blaze a new trail, leaving a path for others to follow after you.

Live loud... Share Deep... Be Bold and Humble at the same time... Offer Hope... Be Love... This is how you Shine On! ...for there are Watchers out there... trapped in observing and unable to really live.  So let's show them what Freedom really looks like!

Let's fling seeds of joy and love and dreams everywhere we go...

For real... each day... let's purpose to set out to Speak Life, to Be Love, and let Him Shine On, brightly through each of us!

The World awaits the warmth of the Son!

    I am realizing that God is so, so personal and wants us to be so, so personal, too. Loving people, it's a very personal, deep sort of thing. Your words just highlighted that for me :)
