FIGHT - The Glorious Return of Five Minute Friday

I had no intention of partying tonight!  My sweet friend Barbie asked if I knew when the #fmfparty was kicking off the New Year and I assumed it was next week! But Lisa Jo popped in and said it was happening right then and there so I just had to go! Pounding head and sleepy eyes... I pressed through to connect just for a little while but it was oh so good to be back!

Oh but - first - the fine print: if you don't know what FMF is!  Five Minute Fridays are hosted by Lisa Jo Baker.  It is open to anyone, so to learn more about it - and to jump in yourself (the more the merrier!) or just to find a linky to see what everyone is writing about today - click HERE!  The idea is to simply write... for Five Minutes flat... no editing, no deep thinking - or at least REthinking, no spell check - just write! Let it flow! We all write using a prompt that Lisa posts at 10pm Thursday night (EST.)  I'm loving the community of amazing bloggers and the creativity that flows from these magical Five Minutes!

So - here goes: Five Minute Friday - The Word Prompt is: FIGHT

{GO}

Every time he says it out loud, I admit - I cringe a little.  I shy away and back up and immediately, I am in a battle and I feel the urge to fight for self-protection.

This amazing man of mine... he has this dream.  Well - he wouldn't maybe put it like that, but since God is talking to me and stretching me into a dream of my own - of our own, I can see it more clearly now.

He talks of teaching marriage classes... of sharing on love and family and parenthood and how we could tag team preach it out loud and show the way it has worked for us.

Let me tell you - we are blessed and while it hasn't always been easy or charmed, He has always been at our center and the very core of who and Whose we are.  We rarely if ever forget that.

We love, we speak life, we are all in and we are FOR each other... and I know, sadly, that for others... well, that is not always the case.

So when he begins to dream out loud and sketch out outlines and rought drafts of what we would cover, the fight is on because what the enemy WANTS me to believe is that if we stand up tall and open the door to how we live this wonderful life of matrimony and bliss, well - it will unravel, fall apart... at the very least it will be tested... and yet - how can I not fall more in love with him (and Him!) when he wants to dream and preach and live and laugh and do it all side by side... my words finishing his sentences... his worship intermingling with my prayers?

As I silence my fears and cozy up beside him, I fill in the gaps and add my own two cents and we dream together, hand in hand and intertwined!

{STOP}

It went by fast tonight... and I wasn't quite sure where Fight was gonna fit in... but isn't that always the way it goes? For me... it is.  It is most often that internal Fight... the battle that is not won with flesh and blood and so I lean in, I bow down, and I let Him win - over and over and over again! "Your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven."

  1. Thank you for sharing your story of fighting your doubts and fears. I am also trying to learn to better turn my worries and fears over to God, and embrace the journey that he is taking my husband and I on. I am stopping by from five minute Friday.

    Morning Karrilee! Thanks so much for this post - I am really blessed to read it - there's a substance and passion conveyed in your words. I can feel how solid your love is for each other, and most importantly for the Lord. As you adventure on into 2014, I pray you will see how firmly God's love is holding you - how secure your husband's love is for you - and that you would both feel a freedom to step out on that foundation into great and victorious battles. I know relationships like yours truly are a great gift and an honour to the Lord who gives them. Even your short post has inspired me again at what the Lord can do in sustaining and strengthening marriages... just think what He might do for others if you take the plunge and start giving marriage classes!
