Five Minute Friday - SEE

I had planned on attending a meeting tonight... that was the plan. I had braved the ice and the cold and the workout happened... I braved the Grocery list making and the WalMart and the Crockpot did most of the hard work... but I had been home, and gotten comfy and cozy and the temperatures were quickly dropping and the twitter party was in full swing, but I had to go.  How could I not? It was a meeting all about sex trafficking and local ministries that are sprouting up and helping out and making a difference and I had to go... I had to SEE!

Oh but - first - the fine print: if you don't know what FMF is!  Five Minute Fridays are hosted by Lisa Jo Baker.  It is open to anyone, so to learn more about it - and to jump in yourself (the more the merrier!) or just to find a linky to see what everyone is writing about today - click HERE!  The idea is to simply write... for Five Minutes flat... no editing, no deep thinking - or at least REthinking, no spell check - just write! Let it flow! We all write using a prompt that Lisa posts at 10pm Thursday night (EST.)  I'm loving the community of amazing bloggers and the creativity that flows from these magical Five Minutes!

So - here goes: Five Minute Friday - The Word Prompt is: SEE

{GO}

It's #Jeanuary January, ya'll...

What does that mean, you ask?  Well - several of my amazing Bloggy friends were participating in #Dressember December - raising funds and awareness for Sex and Human Trafficking and I wimped out.  I don't like to be cold and I only own summer dresses and simply put - I just couldn't see myself actually sticking with it!

But then Amy Clary decided to partner with Freeset and #Jeanuary came to be and - well, I can wear Jeans nearly every day ANYWAY so why not wear them for a purpose? Plus - you know... WARM... they are warm!

My least favorite part is posting photo's... I mean - who needs so many "Before" photo's in one month? (I'm only partly kidding!) but it is for a good cause, and as I said when I posted this shot on Instagram a couple of days ago - "I want to be like Olivia Pope...

 I want to fix things, too!"

So - I am wearing jeans every day and raising awareness... I am partnering with Freeset and hoping people will shop and support ministries like theirs in helping to fund freedom for modern day slaves!  I want more than anything for people to SEE that - yes, it's a HUGE problem.  and yes, you CAN make a difference!

I had to leave mid-party tonight, and attend a local meeting. The Speaker is a Pastor and she has her own sex trafficking story... a testimony going from victim to victor... she ministers and trains up others to be love to the girls (and guys) caught up in this lifestyle. And the local ministries in my own small town that are coming together and changing the world for one precious child after another - well, it did my heart good to SEE that this is happening.

Help is coming... Hope is arising...

We can Be the Gift and Bring the Change and it starts first with really SEEING.

{STOP}

Open our eyes, Lord... help us to see... help us to be the change and release the Hope and the Love that breaks every chain!  Follow #Jeanuary and #ShopFreesetUSA on Instagram and go on over to Amy's at Coffee with the Mrs. and join in the Challenge!

    Sex/Human Trafficking is something that God continues to bring to my heart. I didn't hear about Dressember until a week or so in and I didn't think I could do Jeanuary since I can't wear jeans to work. But thanks to you and others like Amy Clary bringing more awareness I know I can get involved. Not only can I but I should. I have to do all I can.

  6. That's awesome! I try to educate my students about sex-trafficking (I teach at a private high school). I figure the more people who understand that slavery is alive and beating people down, the better off our world will be. What a great idea to join a project like Jeanuary...I'll have to start being more intentional.

  9. Love that you're doing this with Freeset. This is one of causes my heart breaks open and bleeds for - right with you. For the least of these. Let them be seen. Happy to be linking words and hearts with you back online - and neighbors again - sweet. Have a blessed weekend friend!
