"It was back under Nebraskan skies, sitting beneath a canopy of branches giving praise that I slowed to ask Him, “What do You have for me here, besides a bit of retreat –besides a bit of impartation and deeper connections?”
Immediately I felt Him whisper: I have Rest that you can take with you.
I have sunshine and breezes, and white-rocking-chairs-on-front-porch-talks that will slowly linger, sink in, take root.
I have surprises that you won’t yet discover for months, maybe longer. But you will be able to count back to now.
I have Quiet and yet not Silence…"
I am honored to be sharing my words and heart over at Incourage today, talking about the beautiful partnership of letting Him make us.

I've thought here recently of having a "retreat" for just a day, to just take time to sit and soak in God's word. I'm notorious for when I pray, to do all the talking, and no listening. We're all probably guilty of it, and then wonder why we're not hearing from God, when in fact, He was speaking the whole time, we just simply were not listening. Thanks for sharing! #RaRaLinkup
ReplyDeleteOh yes - I think we are all guilty of doing all the talking some days! I love the idea of a retreat... I think we all could use that from time to time! An intentional time set aside to commune with Him! Thanks so much for stopping by Trena!
DeleteYour post is so refreshing. As a mom with three young kids, I've REALLY been struggling with my quiet time this summer. It seems that I always get to the point where I can feel God, only to be wisked away by needed momma duties. It was really getting to me. Until I finally found His peace even in the midst of my chaos. It's a brand new way of seeing Him in my life, much like the beauty in your post here. Congreats on your Incourage post my friend! Smiling SO big for you over here!
ReplyDeleteBethany, I love that! I am in a season now where it is quiet and peaceful almost too often around this empty nest... so God challenged me to go somewhere noisy on purpose to seek out some silence! It's work - but it can be done! Thanks so much for your love and support, my friend! It means so much!
DeleteBeautifully written...my heart feels calmer just reading it. :)
ReplyDeleteI think that this is the first time that I've visited here. What a pretty site you have.
Happy to have happened upon you at the RaRa linkup today. Congrats on the guest post. :)
~ Best to you ~
Thanks so much Brenda! I'm so happy to have you! Feel free to come on over any time!
DeleteWhat a beautiful post! Rest and stillness is something I struggle with and my frantic life is showing it!
ReplyDeleteMelissa, I think we can all struggle - especially in our culture of quick and overscheduled... but it's amazing to me how just five minutes can change your whole day! xoxo
DeleteLove seeing you at InCourage! Lovely post!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Ginger! It's one of my favorite places, so I am honored to be hanging out on the porch over there!
DeleteYes! So true...off to read your post...I'm sure it will be fabulous :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Dolly! xoxo
DeleteI left a comment for you over there, Karrilee, but I just wanted to let you know that this is such a beautiful reminder of a very important truth.
ReplyDeleteWe hear Him best when we are still in Him!
May He continue to fill your cup to overflowing!
Amen, Heather! I think we know this - but in our fast and chaotic culture, we forget! Thanks so much for commenting... here and there! :)
DeleteI just wrote a post after almost a month of being silence. Being silence as I focus on not my issues or the world issue but focusing on what God wants me to focus on. Caring for ones own soul is exactly what Jesus did when He pulled away to pray...and what better example to follow. Great post.
ReplyDeleteAmen, Betty! That is so good! I will head over your way to read your post! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteOh! I have to click over to read the rest of this one! Yes, indeed. A beautiful partnership.
ReplyDeleteI knew you would 'get' this, my friend! A beautiful partnership, indeed! xoxo
DeleteI am like Bethany, with three little ones running around (two of which I homeschool) the only time my house is quiet is when they are sleeping. :-) I love how you talk about that short spurts of quiet time can be meaningful. When I can, (usually early in the morning, I like to step out on my back porch and pray. Thank you for sharing your heart here. I hope you have a lovely day!
ReplyDeleteAmen! I think in our fast paced world, we can be 'talked into' believing that if we don't have an hour... we don't have the time - but I am finding the short spurts make all the difference, and more often than not - I find more time through out the day to drink more from the well! There is something swoon-worthy about mornings in prayer on porches and patios! Something holy, I dare say! But afternoons and evenings work well too! ;) Thanks so much for stopping by!
DeleteAfter completing training I worked as a locum around Inverness to gain experience and work in different practices before applying for a partnership. I felt ready to take on a different role and different responsibilities. sildenafil
