Dwell... A Five Minute Friday Post

I was in and out of the #fmfparty over on Twitter last night.  I was fighting off not feeling well and walking that thin line between pushing through and giving in.  I'm sure we are all aware of that line. Battling that for me yesterday looked like hot tea, reading, and half-napping through Netflix through out the day. Today, however, is a new day... so let's dig in!

This is Five Minute Friday (- a five minute timed free write) and our One Word Prompt for the day is: DWELL

{GO}

Dwell...

It's one of my favorite words. (And you know me and picking favorites!)

I love it for so many reasons... to me Dwell releases Peace and Joy, Safety and Security, Blessing and Belonging.

Try it! Just say it out loud...
Inhale deep, exhale slow.
Close your eyes and say it again.
Dwell...

See?  To Dwell, as the Bible defines it, means to abide (another favorite word around here, obviously!)  It means to settle down, to stay, to inhabit.  The Lexiconcordance (a Hebrew Dictionary) defines Dwell as something to seek hospitality with. I love that.

Who are you seeking hospitality with?

Immediately, when I think of Dwell, I think of all the psalms... but specifically, Psalm 37.
So how do we cultivate faithfulness? It's by dwelling in the land... by dwelling in His Presence!

I love how Webster's defines it:
DWELL:
1
:  to remain for a time
2
a :  to live as a resident
b :  exist, lie
3
a :  to keep the attention directed —used with on or upon
b :  to speak or write insistently —used with on or upon
noun — dwell·er
So my hearts' desire is to be a Dweller
Oh yes... that is what I want to be known for!

First - I want to be known for dwelling with Him... I want to spend time with Him... to inhabit and stay close to His side and His heart, to settle down in His lap.  For when I have huddled in deep and when I simply let go and let Him love me, He fills me fresh and overflowing...

That is when I get to go out into my everyday life and dwell with others... to pour out and let them know that they are not alone --you are not alone.

I am for you... and He is for you... and no matter what you are facing in this world... no matter what battle you are staring down or weight you are lugging around -- I promise you that making time to sit and dwell in His Presence will help.

It may not make it go away or even give you miraculous insight in to what to do next... but I promise making time to dwell in His Presence will release a bit of Peace and Joy... He offers you Safety and Security, Blessing and Belonging.

You are His Beloved and dwelling with the One who loves you best empowers you and enables you to better love those around you...

And we all want that, right?

{STOP}

We change the world one life at a time... but we change it best when we have dwelt with Him and we've let Him change us first!

This week has been heavy, y'all... battles on every front. Still - Dwelling with Him settles our spirits and calms our souls... and who couldn't use a bit more of that?
"Depart from evil and do good,
So you will abide forever.
For the Lord loves justice
And does not forsake His godly ones;
They are preserved forever,
But the descendants of the wicked will be cut off.
The righteous will inherit the land
And dwell in it forever."
~ Psalms 37:27-29 NASB

Linking up with Kate Motaung and the #fmfparty Community today.  Five Minute Fridays gives us the chance to dive right in and share what He puts on our hearts! Click here to read what others have to say about "DWELL"

The FMF lowdown: The gathering happens on Twitter on Thursday nights & then we write our hearts out & hit publish all over the interwebs on Thursday & Friday (& sometimes on Tuesdays!) It's where we encourage & uplift... where we share prayer requests & praise reports... where we talk food & friends & we find support & kindred hearts. It's where we are reminded that life is good & God is good & we're not alone... & then we all write for five minutes flat, a flash mob of wordsmiths letting our hearts & our fingers do the talking tapping & we hit publish before we can second guess it all away.

We'd love to have you join us!

Just for fun, and to encourage  a little Dwelling...
Enjoy:

I had never heard that song, but it's the very verse I used in my post. :) Blessings to you!

  3. I echo what Tara and Gayl have already said. I don't always emerge from concentrated time with the Lord possessing all the answers - but I do possess peace and the assurance that He is taking care of me. So, time to shut off the computer and go sit at His feet. Love you!

    1. What more could we ask for, really? I mean - sure... I've been known to demand answers and stomp my feet - but even through my tantrums... He holds out peace like a gift... and I walk away with it every time! Love you right back, my friend!

    1. I am feeling better today, Jo! Thanks for that... and yes - LOL - I add the graphics and quotes after the timer goes off obviously -and I usually enjoy a freeflow of words and with the freedom of not editing myself as I go - well... I have learned to just keep the thoughts fluid as I type! The longer you play along... more than likely... the longer your posts will be. Although sometimes it is the short and to the point posts that really drive it home! (I just tend to have lots and lots of words! As evidenced by this comment to your comment! LOL!)

  7. Karrilee,
    I agree. It has been a weary, tiring week. And I love that you acknowledge it but choose not to DWELL there. ;) We choose where we live. And we want to live with God! Amen! I'm especially enjoying your Lexiconcordance (need one for Christmas). I've been studying the fruits of the Spirit in Hebrew...but they're in Greek, so I'm learning more Hebrew alphabet and phonetics and I just met a girl named Ahava...and I knew what her name meant! It's Hebrew for love.
    Psalm 37 was my second choice after Psalm 23. I'm in my third month of Psalms and God is sooooo good!
    So, I leave you with Ah-ha-vah.

    1. I see what you did there, my friend! ;) I refuse to dwell there in the weariness and heavy burdens. How cool that you have been learning Hebrew! The Psalms are so full... you just can't go wrong hanging out in them!
