Dwell... A Five Minute Friday Post

I was in and out of the #fmfparty over on Twitter last night.  I was fighting off not feeling well and walking that thin line between pushing through and giving in.  I'm sure we are all aware of that line. Battling that for me yesterday looked like hot tea, reading, and half-napping through Netflix through out the day. Today, however, is a new day... so let's dig in!

This is Five Minute Friday (- a five minute timed free write) and our One Word Prompt for the day is: DWELL

Dwell...

It's one of my favorite words. (And you know me and picking favorites!)

I love it for so many reasons... to me Dwell releases Peace and Joy, Safety and Security, Blessing and Belonging.

Try it! Just say it out loud... 
Inhale deep, exhale slow.
Close your eyes and say it again.
Dwell...

See?  To Dwell, as the Bible defines it, means to abide (another favorite word around here, obviously!)  It means to settle down, to stay, to inhabit.  The Lexiconcordance (a Hebrew Dictionary) defines Dwell as something to seek hospitality with. I love that.

Who are you seeking hospitality with? 

Immediately, when I think of Dwell, I think of all the psalms... but specifically, Psalm 37.

So how do we cultivate faithfulness? It's by dwelling in the land... by dwelling in His Presence!



I love how Webster's defines it:

So my hearts' desire is to be a Dweller. 
Oh yes... that is what I want to be known for! 

First - I want to be known for dwelling with Him... I want to spend time with Him... to inhabit and stay close to His side and His heart, to settle down in His lap.  For when I have huddled in deep and when I simply let go and let Him love me, He fills me fresh and overflowing...

That is when I get to go out into my everyday life and dwell with others... to pour out and let them know that they are not alone --you are not alone.  

I am for you... and He is for you... and no matter what you are facing in this world... no matter what battle you are staring down or weight you are lugging around -- I promise you that making time to sit and dwell in His Presence will help.

It may not make it go away or even give you miraculous insight in to what to do next... but I promise making time to dwell in His Presence will release a bit of Peace and Joy... He offers you Safety and Security, Blessing and Belonging.

You are His Beloved and dwelling with the One who loves you best empowers you and enables you to better love those around you...

And we all want that, right?

We change the world one life at a time... but we change it best when we have dwelt with Him and we've let Him change us first!

This week has been heavy, y'all... battles on every front. Still - Dwelling with Him settles our spirits and calms our souls... and who couldn't use a bit more of that?

"Depart from evil and do good,

So you will abide forever.

For the Lord loves justice

And does not forsake His godly ones;

They are preserved forever,

But the descendants of the wicked will be cut off.

The righteous will inherit the land

And dwell in it forever."
