To Be Fully Here, Wherever That Is... a Five Minute Friday Post

I can't believe I missed another Thursday night Twitter party... I blame Summer I suppose, although I can't really say I am mad at her! Still, I have missed y'all over at #fmfparty - and tonight, especially, knowing that a handful of you are all gathered in Nashville for the FMF Retreat! I was live streaming the Wonder Conference at Bethel and oh my goodness, it has been amazing!

This is Five Minute Friday (- a five minute timed free write) and our One Word Prompt for the day is: HERE

{GO}

Here... To be FULLY here, wherever that is for you!

I believe that is both the cry of our hearts and the call on our lives in this loud, fast, multi-tasking world.

I have felt the pull and have heard the sirens song, calling me to come away... to just do one more thing... to not forget about this, or to meet that need and all the while, the Holy Spirit is begging, just be HERE.

Just be here with Me... just come and sit for a little while.

Silence the noise and the bossy lists and all the should do's and have to's and let Quiet have its' way with your soul.

Let Peace seep in deep and soak all the way through and let Rest breathe new life and exhale divine calm into all your chaos.

Just Breathe.  Just Be.

You feel it too, right?
This call to slow, to silence, to simplify.

I know I keep writing about it but it's honestly to remind myself that this right here? This slowing and breathing and being fully present, right here and right now... this is what I am called to and this is when I feel most authentically and completely who I am!

The temptations are so great... the smart phones and tablets and all access all the time to all the knowledge... it's intoxicating but it steals our best intentions of not staring at screens but staring into souls.

We long to have real connection... for deeper conversations and friendships that get stronger and last longer and the only way - the only one way to make a life feel valued is to look at it straight on and listen with your eyes.

Be Present... Be fully Here - wherever that is for you!

Chances are really great that if you do that, you will find God staring right back at you... clothed in sisters or neighbors or strangers down the street...

But He is there... Here... everywhere!
If we will but slow to see!

{STOP}

I know I am in a season of slow and I don't have Littles at home or a bossy job, so it's super easy (ha) for me to say this. I assure you, it's not always easy to DO it!  But, when I do... well, I feel more whole and the most authentically me because He shows up... fills me up... and leaks me out! He will do the same for you!

Learning to slow and to see,

Linking up with Kate Motaung and the #fmfparty Community today.  Five Minute Fridays gives us the chance to dive right in and share what He puts on our hearts! Click here to read what others have to say about "HERE"

The FMF lowdown: I can't say it enough, really - I love my tribe! The gathering happens on Twitter on Thursday nights and then  we write our hearts out and hit publish all over the interwebs on Thursday and Friday (and sometimes on Tuesdays!) It's where we encourage and uplift... where we share prayer requests and praise reports... where we talk food and friends and we find support and kindred hearts and we are reminded that life is good and God is good and we are not alone... and then we all write for five minutes flat, a flash mob of wordsmiths letting our hearts and our fingers do the talking tapping and we hit publish before we can second guess it all away. We'd love to have you join us!

  1. You're right! It's so so hard to slow, to silence, to simplify.....yet, in the craziness of this world we MUST do that to be able to hear HIM! A great reminder......thanks for sharing!

  3. Beautifully written! I think a lot of us have the tendency to always say yes, and feel like we are failing if we don't do everything, but God wants us to have margin. I have taken the time to start reading again and learned to start saying NO sometimes.

    1. Aw thanks, friend! Learning to say No (and say no just 'sometimes'!) is crucial! So happy to hear that you are taking time... slowing down... leaning in! xoxo

  4. Your post reminds me of the invitation (or was it a command?) that Jesus issued to His disciples in Mark 6:31, "...Come with Me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest." Thanks for the reminder of the importance, necessity of slowing and solitude and silence. Visiting from FMF. P.S. Blessed by your memes.

  6. "Be still and know that I am God" YES INDEED..time to put down the phones, tablets, etc. Oh and this my friend: "We long to have real connection... for deeper conversations and friendships that get stronger and last longer and the only way - the only one way to make a life feel valued is to look at it straight on and listen with your eyes." So much truth to that statement. I can't wait for the day when we get to meet In Real Life and stare and listen with our eyes together. Oh friend, LOVE YOU SO!!!
