Happy Day After Thanksgiving, ya'll!
I may have skipped out on the party last night over on Twitter... I just sort of assumed there wouldn't BE a FMF this week, since the writing happens on Thursday night and Thursday night was Thanksgiving and... well, the Seahawks were dominating the 49ers (#sorrynotsorry) and there was just no way I was going to find myself in front of a (different) screen! However, I was thrilled to see a link up and to see so many still participating in this challege to write unedited and uninterrupted, for five minutes flat and then hit publish and just let it go... let it be whatever it is... and trust that it is enough! (It is... it always is!)
Enough of that... on to our Word Prompt!
Today's prompt is: GIVE
{GO}
I know, I know... it's that time of year. We all talk about it.
Giving: Giving thanks, Giving gifts, Giving time and money and hours in our days, oh my goodness, you can almost feel the rush of the season unfolding already!
This time of year also brings to light all the needs... all the ways that we could/should give more. I think we enter into Thanksgiving looking back at what we've been given so we can fall into Christmas with eyes scanning all around us, finding ways that we can give it away.
Little things (and big things) suddenly come into focus and we realize the state of this world... for better or worse.
This week it has felt worse.
Sometimes it looks like weeds all around and it feels like we are all just lost in the thick of it... none of us have the answers... none of us, on our own - in our own thinking or reasoning or wisdom, know the way out...
But we cling to this:
"If you don’t have all the wisdom needed for this journey, then all you have to do is ask God for it; and God will grant all that you need. He gives lavishly and never scolds you for asking." (James 1:5 The Voice)
Yes. This.
We talked about it not long ago here, how the Light shines brighter in the darkness, and oh Lord how there is so much darkness... so much hurt and confusion and blame being thrown around and none of us with all of our opinions really know the truth.
But you, Lord. You ARE the Truth!
You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life and you are a Light shining in the darkness...
And so we pray...
We pray that Light will shine through the trees and we will be drawn to the warmth of the Sun... to the warmth of the Son... and He...
He will show us the way!
He will remind us of what is good... to look --even in those eucharisteo times, to look for the gift. He is ever ready to teach us.
Jesus promises that if we seek, we will find.
All of Earth is crammed with heaven, Elizabeth Browing said. There is Good and Glory and Grace all around us!
Lord, give us eyes to see...
{STOP}
May we all enter into this season with our eyes open... our eyes, and our hearts and our hands.
May we all look for the Good and the Glory and the Grace... find it, and then Give it away!
Five Minute Fridays gives us the chance to dive right in and share what He puts on our hearts! Click here to read what others have to say about "GIVE"
Oh ...the fine print: if you don't know what FMF is! Five Minute Fridays have been hosted by Lisa Jo Baker. This week we start gathering over at Kate Motaung's. FMF is open to anyone, so to learn more about it - and to jump in yourself (the more the merrier!) or just to find a linky to see what everyone is writing about today - click HERE! The idea is to simply write... for Five Minutes flat... no editing, no deep thinking - or at least REthinking, no spell check - just write! Let it flow! We all write using a prompt that Lisa posts at 10pm Thursday night (EST.) I'm loving the community of amazing bloggers and the creativity that flows from these magical Five Minutes!
Visiting from FMF. Good reminder, not only for this season but every day of our lives.
ReplyDeleteAmen, Joe! Thanks so much for stopping by!
DeleteFirst let ,e again say how much I love you and your words !!! This week (heck thses last few month) have felt worse. They have been hard and they had hurt in ways that can't me understood or explained. However, He has always been close to comfort. Comfort that would come in seeing an old verse in a new way, deep quiet in prayer time or even a sweet Voxer message from a dear friend. Thank you my friend fro reminding me that it is never as dark as it seems.
ReplyDeleteOh my friend... I love you and your words, too! I hear ya on the 'worse' He is so good to come close and to shine in the darkness!
DeleteThe light in the midst of the darkness indeed! Have you ever noticed in a power outage or in darkness, light gives us just enough of what we need. God gives is what we need too! Stopping by from FMF!
ReplyDeleteAmen, Tara! I just recently wrote about that - having just had a power outtage and the darkness was so thick... but it took just a little light to cut through the dark!
DeleteVisiting from FMF. So glad I called in and read your wonderful post, as I needed to read your words today. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteWell I am so glad you called in and read, too! I think we all need this encouragement and reminder!
DeleteOpen eyes and hearts as we seek God and how we can share God's love with others. I also didn't think there would be a FMF this week but knew I wouldn't have time to participate anyway. Great to be here and to soak in your words!
ReplyDeleteMary, so glad you stopped by... hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend!
DeleteMay you walk with Beauty (and Grace) all around you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment over yonder. Much appreciated. We all need to dialog, and remember the wisdom bestowed upon us by a generous God, to solve this man made dilemma.
Amen and amen! Thanks so much for stopping by!
