The Anchor Holds... a Five Minute Friday post

I made it, ya'll! I finally made it over to Twitter to party it up with the amazing Five Minute Friday Community of writers. It is always so much fun and I had been hit and miss for way too long! I wasn't sure if I would make it because I was setting up the Prayer Booth that we work at at the Fair, but I snuck in with plenty of time to chat it up! Now... on to the writing part...

Anyway - here we go: Five Minute Friday - Our Word Prompt is: HOLD

{GO}

I keep talking about it, I know. Talking of how I have been in this season of Waiting and now, seemingly suddenly, it is starting to feel like it is nearing an end.

It's like I have resisted it for so long... I just recently let go, and let Rest find me like the gentle rocking of a boat on evening waves -a rhythm that ebs and flows without fear, because the Anchor is holding somewhere, tethered down deep.

I am realizing that Rest and Not Doing Stuff are not always the same! I can be relaxing and slowing down all the Bossy, but true Rest comes only from Him.

I journaled just yesterday a revelation that I have felt Held... as in, firmly, not able to move, in this place, all summer long. I wasn't fighting against it, but my guard was up and I was not Resting into it either. I wrote that in feeling Held, I held back, withdrew just a tad... and the result is that I feel dry.

Well, not dry dry... more like docked.

Still in the water, but not getting anywhere.

Oh I know where to go! I know how to not be dry... and as this Waiting season winds on down, I know that I need to soak Him in, and let Him refresh and refill me so I have something to leak out when we set sail again! Because, really... in this next season, I think He is beckoning us to more than Oceans and keeping our eyes above the waves.  In this next season, I believe He is calling us to go on and Walk on the Water with Him!

{STOP}

Hmm... I am tired tonight and even though I did make it a point today to fill up in His presence... these words came without a flow... but in starts and stops and maybe what I really needed to remember tonight is that when the words come, or when the cursor mocks... I am His and He is Holding me either way!

Oh ...the fine print: if you don't know what FMF is!  Five Minute Fridays have been hosted by Lisa Jo Baker.  This week we start gathering over at Kate Motaung's.  FMF is open to anyone, so to learn more about it - and to jump in yourself (the more the merrier!) or just to find a linky to see what everyone is writing about today - click HERE!  The idea is to simply write... for Five Minutes flat... no editing, no deep thinking - or at least REthinking, no spell check - just write! Let it flow! We all write using a prompt that Lisa posts at 10pm Thursday night (EST.)  I'm loving the community of amazing bloggers and the creativity that flows from these magical Five Minutes!

I am also linking up Faith and Fellowship:

    You've nevertheless put it eloquently - being held - and fighting it - is being constrained, imprisoned and restricted. But nestling in is another matter entirely. I also love your description of being 'docked' - you know you're made for wilder adventures!

  7. I love how you wrote your way to the wonderful last line of this post. I'm not sure if you planned it or not. If you did, bravo! If you didn't, well that's the part of writing I love the most—when your words take you to unexpected places. Blessings to you, Karrilee!

    1. LOL... you know David - it was a happy accident but I have felt often lately the call to walk on the water! So that thought is always in the back of my mind - especially when water or boats or risk is the topic! I so appreciate your consistent encouragement and support, friend! Blessings right back to you!
