Good morning! What a concept, right? Writing a Five Minute Friday post on a Friday! I have so missed the routine of jumping in to the party on Thurdsay nights over on Twitter (at #fmfparty) but last night was the NFL season opener and, well, I DO live in #HawksNation and it's a pretty big deal around here so it was a given that we would all be gathered around a different kind of screen, cheering on our team - to victory! #GoHawks
Anyway - here we go: Five Minute Friday - Our Word Prompt is: WHISPER
{GO}
Sometimes, God thinks He is p-r-e-t--t-y funny!
I have been not writing (much) this summer.
He has been calling me to sit... to wait... to be Silent.
(Like - actually Silent.)
I wrote about it here... (I know... because you guys, you know I just can't NOT write - even when I have nothing to say, right? Seriously though, read #10!)
In our chaotic, multi-tasking, frenzied world, silence is hard to come by!
It won't come on accident.
It will take some intentionality to embrace a little Silence. But I am rediscovering the value and rest available when we will simply slow down... simply stop All. The. Things. and sit with Him.
We hear Him best, honestly, when we stop talking/asking/complaining/planning-on-our-own... when we lay down our agenda, that so often can seem good and right... when we lay down our giftings and our dreams and say - nothing!
Just say nothing... for however long it takes to embrace the silence.
For in the Silence, you will hear His heart beating for you! You will hear the faint melody of a song sung over you. You will find Him in the Whisper!
As I typed that last line, I could hear "Whisper" by Rita Springer in my mind... this song undoes me every time and in this season... well, in this season, I need to find Him in the Whisper!*
{STOP}
*So I couldn't believe that this song is not on YouTube? What? I couldn't find a video and this is a Five Minute post ya'll - so the learning curve on how to MAKE a video is beyond my timeframe this morning!
Still... here are the lyrics:
"Not in the earthquakeNot in the way the rain fallsYet you’re the way the rain falls down
Not in the thunderNot in the lighting flashingYet you’re the lighting flashing down
Not in the windNot in the way it blows aroundYet you’re the way it blows around
Not in the struggleNot it the way it takes me outYet you’re the one who bows me down
I know youYou know meI’ll followWhen you say go I will goI need YouYou need meTo listen to the Whisper...
...I can find You in the whisper.I can find You there. I can find You there.I know You're right in the whisper.
...won't You just whisper..."
~Rita Springer, Whisper
You can listen to the song on Spotify HERE... I highly recommend it!

Oh ...the fine print: if you don't know what FMF is! Five Minute Fridays have been hosted by Lisa Jo Baker. This week we start gathering over at Kate Motaung's. FMF is open to anyone, so to learn more about it - and to jump in yourself (the more the merrier!) or just to find a linky to see what everyone is writing about today - click HERE! The idea is to simply write... for Five Minutes flat... no editing, no deep thinking - or at least REthinking, no spell check - just write! Let it flow! We all write using a prompt that Lisa posts at 10pm Thursday night (EST.) I'm loving the community of amazing bloggers and the creativity that flows from these magical Five Minutes!
That song is based on one of my favorite Scripture passages (that was the OT reading at my daughter's baptism). Another passage I recall in times like this is the opening of Psalm 62 "In God alone, my soul in silence waits. From him comes my salvation." Wrote it in a notebook as a reminder to myself not be impatient when the words don't come right away. Blessings, Karrilee. Hope to catch up in person soon.
ReplyDeleteYes - David... I love that portion of Scripture as well! As soon as I saw the Word Prompt, I could hear Rita Springer singing that song! It's always nice to have you stop by! I'd love to catch up in person! Praying for you as you pursue your dream, my friend!
DeleteI'm convinced He lives in the whisper. That deep soul knowing that comes from feeling His truth is found in the whisper. And like you said, sometimes we have to wait for it. Love you and this Karrilee! Hard to believe you can't find something on YouTube but it happens...thanks for going the extra mile and sharing the lyrics. p.s. I only get to post on Fridays now too, if at all. Miss this link-up like crazy.
ReplyDeleteLisha... as I said somewhere else today in the webosphere... it's like you know me! I love you so, friend! Listening for His whisper right alongside you! xoxo
DeleteBeautifully said my friend. I will find Him, when I choose to slow down, sit with Him, and lean into His whisper. Love you!
ReplyDeleteAmen, sweet friend! He is not hiding... He loves to be found! Love you right back! xoxo
