31 Days of Going From Mama to Mimi - DAY SIX - STORY... a Five Minute Friday post.

This is Day Six of the #Write31Days series, but we are playing along with the #fmfparty community! Here we go: This is a Five Minute Friday post, which simply means I set a timer and free write for five minutes flat on the one word prompt of: STORY

{GO}

Because... PERFECT, right? I mean... come on!

Because you can't really talk about Family and not talk about Story.

All the while, when we think we are writing our Story... adding in characters and creating scenes to be remembered long after the last page is read, the reality is that
God is the Author of our Story!

He is the One writing it down, and we remember this oh so clearly when we find ourselves rolling with the twists and turns that we would have never penciled in ourselves.

But God...

    (I mean, right?)

I mean --some of the hardest and most unexpected plot twists of my life have led me down the BEST story lines!

And we have found ourselves saying it over and over lately:

Our God?
Yeah...
He can be trusted!

Even when it looks or feels like He can't be...
Even when it looks like the Story is not going to end well.

He promises us in His Word that He is working all things together for our good for those who love God and who are called according to His purpose. (Rom 8:28)

If it's not good,
He's not done working it out yet!

He is the greatest Storyteller ever &
He is the Author & Finisher
of our faith.

Who likes to read a predictable, 'safe' boring story?
No. It's those dreaded twists and turns... the story lines that split off or the unexpected actions of a beloved character that cause our hearts to race and make us lean forward to the edge of our seats, waiting to see how it will work out.

As a reader, we love those...
    (--mostly! Mostly, we love them!)

As the main character in the Story of our Life -- not so much.
But it's those surprises in the story that bring about the best testimonies.  Right?

And as God is writing the Story of Us within our family...
we have discovered that the underlying theme has always been --and always will be-- Love!

He can't help Himself.
He's such a Romantic!

He loves a good Love Story and when I look back over the Story of Us... I see the plot twists and the introduction of new characters who have become a lifeline for us.

Friendships that have stood the test of time...
Family that has grown and shifted and made room...
A baby who grew up and now has a baby of her own...

And while maybe I would not have written the story quite the same way...

But I trust that He is a better Writer...
He is the Master Storyteller...
He knows the Beginning AND the End...
...and He can be trusted!

Oh sweet reader...
He can be Trusted!

{STOP}

As a writer, of course I love to think of God as a Writer, too! And to imagine Him penning out the story of my life and how it overlaps and intertwines with other peoples' stories...

I love how He connects us and how He makes beautiful things out of the heavy and the hard.

THAT, after all, is what makes the best kind of stories!

I would not have added in a grand baby quite yet if I was the author of the Story of Us... but oh how His timing is perfect and now that she is here... of course --it's perfect timing!

We see in hindsight and in glimpses of what He is up to still, He is working all things together...

and it is good!

Linking up with Kate Motaung and the #fmfparty Community today.  Five Minute Fridays gives us the chance to dive right in and share what He puts on our hearts! Click HERE to read what others have to say about: "STORY"
The FMF lowdown: The gathering happens on Twitter on Thursday nights & then we write our hearts out & hit publish all over the interwebs on Thursday & Friday (& sometimes on Tuesdays!) It's where we encourage & uplift... where we share prayer requests & praise reports... where we talk food & friends & we find support & kindred hearts. It's where we are reminded that life is good & God is good & we're not alone... & then we all write for five minutes flat, a flash mob of wordsmiths letting our hearts & our fingers do the talking tapping & we hit publish before we can second guess it all away. We'd love to have you join us!

  2. Congrats from one Mimi to another! Your granddaughter is beautiful!
God is THE Master story writer, I certainly wouldn't have written my story the way He has, but, He knows how it will end, and I do believe He twisted this and turned that, for His glory.
Sitting next to you today at Fresh Market Friday linkup. Have a blessed day!
