The only thing I can tell you is every year in June I get a call to sub for my old Bunco group... And every year I say yes, please! So that is where I was on Thursday... one day soon I will make it back to the tribal gathering on Twitter on Thursday nights (aka #fmfparty) -at least that is my hope and intention! Until then, let's write!
Our One Word this week is FLY! This is Five Minute Friday!
{GO}
Fly... I see the word and I laugh because, yes!
Yes... I want to do just that!
On a plane... sure...
but in general, in life...
I want to soar.
I'm a dreamer and an artist and I am constantly standing up taller in who I am and how He has made me and I can promise you that when you discover and remember your true identity, operating in and out of that, --well... there is just nothing better!
As I've mentioned (too many times, probably!), we are in an In-Between season and things are still slow and silent. This is mostly restful and so much grace, but every once in awhile around the edges, one can begin to question if we'll be invited out to fly again.
I quickly dismiss it because I know...
I know these seasons of waiting and how the enemy can try to swoop right on in and whisper-shout lies until they feel like truth.
Lies that sound like, "You're grounded. Shelved. You missed your chance."
Lies that say, "It's too late. You blew it. He won't use you like that again."
Lies that talk about how I am too much, or not enough.
Lies that sound like my flying season is over, and flight is no longer an option.
Lies that say we're stuck... game over... the end.
Lies... Thankfully I know that they are just that:
Lies...
Not too long ago, I wrote about the shift in thinking or feeling stuck and how the Lord revealed that many times in those seasons we are simply being Held.
You can read that post here.
Being Held is so much different than being stuck, right?
There is rest and intentionality in being Held.
And what we have found to be true in other seasons of being in the In-Between, is that the invitation to rest is meant for our good.
It is meant to refresh and refuel for a new season of flying!
The other day, I was invited to be a part of a team who ministered (or --as Bob Goff calls it: 'Tuesday'ed) to a small gathering and oh my goodness, we were called there to pray and to prophecy, but how we were the ones who walked --or did we fly?-- away blessed!
It sure felt a lot like flying!
{STOP}
We went through many months of waiting and praying before getting confirmation that a few things were winding down and that season was over. In those months, being creative was sidelined because who wants to paint when it feels so stormy and fogged in on the inside? I know... it very well could have helped... but I feel most like painting when my spirit is stirred and hope is arising! I started working on a painting a month or so ago after getting a flash of a vision during worship...
When I saw the One Word prompt, I immediately thought of this painting. It feels like we are walking through the In-Between and while we still feel Held... we are also feeling a stirring and a release to FLY again! To be taken up higher... to soar!
We're still not sure what it will look like or where it will take us, but I'm pretty sure as long as we hang on to Him and let the Wind carry us... we're gonna be alright!
And of course, we know that all those lies are not true
and God has plans for us still...
We know we're gonna fly again
(and again and again!)
But until we are cleared for take-off, and after...
let's continue to press in and let go and purpose to:

The Five Minute Friday community is the best gathering of Flash mob writers around! We wait for the one-word prompt and we throw caution and hesitation and editing to the wind, and we let our fingers fly and our feelings feel and we just wait and see what flows out in five minutes (or so! Because, grace!) and we hit Publish without second-guessing or backspacing!

Now available on Amazon, the 31 Days of Truths We Know devotional ebook.
Each day, we will visit some of the Truths that we know...
but sometimes we forget! We’ll lean in and let go, together...
reminding each other that Truth is a Person -
and whatever is coming at us,
well--it has to get through Him first!

I love the thought of being held and not stuck! Thank you! #54
ReplyDeleteMe too, Mary! There is so much comfort and rest in that thought, isn't there? Thanks so much for stopping by!
DeleteI want to soar too. And this post captures why I love snuggling with infants. There is indeed something holy about being held. I hadn't really thought of that before. Oh and I love the hot air balloon pictures. I helped a friend launch her aunt and uncles one time. So cool. Love you friend! Xoxo
ReplyDeleteAhhh... snuggling babies! Yes... I got to do that today! (Thanks... I shot the Hot Air photo's last year... it's so much fun to watch a bunch of them take to flight!)

ReplyDelete"We know we're gonna fly again

Amen! Blessings to you, Karrilee!
Thanks, Gayl!
DeleteThank God that He promises to never let go of us, no matter what season we are in!
ReplyDeleteAmen! Thanks so much for stopping by!
DeleteAmen.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by!
DeleteOh I can relate to your perspective. I pray I never lose the dream of flying even when I am in an in-between season also. Blessed to have you share your beautiful words at #TellHisStory
ReplyDeleteAmen, Mary! I'm blessed that you are continuing on with the #TellHisStory link up community! xoxo
