Today is the 2nd Annual Global Giving Day to support women around the world and I am honored to be among many who are linking arms and blogs and hearts (and wallets!) and raising awareness for nine amazing organizations who are making a real difference in the lives of women and children around the world!
This is the one post a year where I encourage you to give...
Listen... here's the deal:
I don't like to ask for money.
I don't like to make you feel guilty or ever want you to think that I am unaware of the serious restraints of budget and income.
Y'all!?
I get it.
I mean - things are tight, but I am blessed. I know many, not just around the world but just around the corner, are strapped and can't give --even if they wanted to. That's fine.
If this is you, please keep reading! There is still something(s) you can do if you are unable to give monetarily!
But many can give and maybe just don't know the need or have no idea where to give.
Lastly, many fall for the same lie that I fell for for years: that often times we think if we can't Go (give) Big we should just Go Home... we look at these international issues of poverty, human trafficking, slavery, and violence and hopelessness and we think, well --we think there is no hope.
BUT GOD, right?
Here's the thing I learned years ago... my $5 adds up and it really CAN change the world. Maybe not the whole world, but it can change the world for one woman... one family... one community, maybe!
I remember when we all gathered together and did Laundry together around the world and my how we changed a community for the better!
I remember realizing that my purchasing fun jewelry or t-shirts or scarves could help employ women all over and help keep them free and help them educate and feed their littles!
We live on a tight budget and we cut corners to make ends meet but I can't tell you how my spirit came alive when I realized that even a $5 or $10 offering can make a difference and change a life.
The stats are staggering and the reality of what is 'normal' for the majority of the world should break our hearts... Kristen Welch, of Mercy House Global, wrote a post about her last trip to Africa and how this truth undid her. You can read that post HERE.
But I encourage you to click on over to She Is Priceless... this is how it works:
Click learn more and donate
to the cause of your choice.
If you can't give, but still want to help raise awareness, simply take a "selfless selfie" with your favorite piece of pearl jewelry and use the hashtag #putonyourpearls. Link back to Sheispriceless.org to let people know how they can join the movement.
And always, you can pray! Oh how you can pray!!!
And always, you can pray! Oh how you can pray!!!
I love that they choose a Pearl to help raise awareness and spread the word because a pearl is a healed wound. An oyster protects itself from irritation and suffering and the result is a priceless pearl. The women supported by this campaign have endured unthinkable suffering in their lives and often feel forgotten.
Join together with us today to remind the world that every woman matters.

It's good to see your support for women in underdeveloped countries. At times, we need to ask for donations for a worthy cause.
ReplyDeleteGood post.
Blessings,
Janis
Thanks, Janis! It is a rare post when I talk or urge donating... it's tough because I know things are tight for many of us, but this is a cause I am passionate about! (And like I said, it's once a year!) Thanks for the support!
