Practice what you Preach... A Five Minute Friday.

***

Hey there, Sweet Readers! This is a big weekend around here because we have my Dad's birthday, my girlies' birthday, and Mother's Day all within a couple of days! This, of course, means at some point: Cake! This week we also dealt with a big move and some (more) unwanted news... which brings us to the One Word Prompt this week!  This is a Five Minute Friday post... which simply means I set a timer and free write for five minutes flat on the one-word prompt: PRACTICE

{GO!}

My first thought --especially after this week, Y'all-- comes on the heels of last weeks' 'Opportunity' and it is this:
"Practice what you Preach!"

I mean, last week we talked about counting it all joy and then this week -Y'all... our family got slammed!

So, of course --of COURSE the word prompt is Practice! Because it's so much easier to talk about than it is to do, right? It's so much easier to say something or encourage others to do something than it is to actually follow through and put it into practice ourselves!

For the last couple of years, it seems we've been preaching to ourselves more so than to anyone else!

We've been sort of set aside and reminding ourselves of all of those Truths We Know (but sometimes forget) and over and over and over we've been talking about how Truth is a Person and how Peace is a gift and how His Presence is always here... we just have to remember and make room!

We just have to put it into practice
--this telling our souls to stand firm on His Word...
--this telling our hearts to line up with the Promises
He has sung over us time and time again!
--this reminding our minds to hold on
to the truth we know...
to the good, good Father we love...
to the hope that does not disappoint!

We have been gifted 'opportunities to grow' this week and we've been reminded to practice what we preach!

To stand against fear, doubt, lies, and unbelief...

and yet to be vulnerable in asking for prayer,
for support, for help when we need it...

We faced changes this week
--in addresses, in reality-checks,
in what we thought we knew...

But the One we know,
Who knows us best,
saw every one of those
curveballs coming and
He is not Afraid!

He can handle it...
and He's got it in the palm
of His nail-scarred hands...

We practice what we preach
by staying in His grip...
and we choose to let Him love and lead us!

{STOP!}

For we know whatever
the enemy throws at us...
God can catch it
and turn it around
for our good!

Something about Watch and See...

Something about This Is Not Unto Death...

Something about New Life and
New Beginnings and Fresh Starts...

Something about Let God Arise
and his enemies be scattered...

Something about the God of hope
filling us with all joy and peace in believing,
so that we will abound in hope
by the power of the Holy Spirit.

The FMF lowdown: The gathering happens on Twitter on Thursday nights & then we write our hearts out & hit publish all over the interwebs on Thursday & Friday (& sometimes on Tuesdays!) It's where we encourage & uplift... where we share prayer requests & praise reports... where we talk about food & friends & we find support & kindred hearts. It's where we are reminded that life is good & God is good & we're not alone... & then we all write for five minutes flat, a flash mob of wordsmiths letting our hearts & our fingers do the talking tapping & we hit publish before we can second-guess it all away. We'd love to have you join us!
