These Are the Days Of... (Spring 2018)

***

A few years ago, Emily Freeman shared a tool that she uses to help herself stay present!  She makes lists titled, "These are the Days..." and she scribbles down what her days in that season hold.

Well --I'm a list lover and so I grabbed hold of this idea right away!  I'm also a poet from time to time, so I tend to blend the two!

It's been a long while since I sat down and made a 'list' but it felt like it was time for an updated version!

So, here we go!

These Are The Days Of...
(Spring 2018 edition)

***
These are the days of...
Letting Things Go, and Giving Things Up.
Seasons Ending, Jobs Winding Down.
Hard, Honest talks and Grace doled out.
So Unsure, yet Peace abounds.
The Gift of Hearing from God, "Well done, My Beloved.
You both did what I asked. Be assured, I am pleased."
But Fighting Feelings of Failure or Close but Not Quite,
And still letting the Healing unfold and be seized.

These are the days of
Deciding against worry and unbelief.
Choosing to Trust even in the Unseen.
Faith over fear, and refusing to panic,
Of Being at Rest in the In Between.

Praying for favor, open doors, and direction.
An Unknown Future is beginning to arrive.
We're more than our titles and we are praying for
Wide-open pathways leading to where we will thrive.

These are the days of
Girlie and Baby swinging by
for a quick little hello,
or staying all day working on school
while Mimi rocks her slow.

Little Miss, she's giggling, babbling,
and crawling all over.
She brings the return of Baby gates, diapers,
Pushing a Stroller.

Our girlie is all grown up and making us proud.
Lil Mama is amazing and so full of grace.
She's head over heels in love with her Evy Ro.
She glows so bright, Joy's written all over her face.

These are the days of
Physical Therapy with Dad,
and taking Mom to the doctor.
-of tests, waiting for results,
and prayers said both silent and out loud.
Making plans to downsize,
to clear stuff out... doing it with honor.
Staying close but giving them space,
choosing faith over fear and doubt.

Reminiscing over stories
and memories from long ago.
Listening and laughing,
remembering the golden days of old.
Running errands and staying intentional
and present each day.
Being grateful and giving thanks
for blessings all along the way.

These are the days of
Empty Nester dating, with the return of holding hands.
Impromptu weekend getaways with just the two of us.
Talking and Laughing and Falling deeper in love as one.
Drinking in moments of silence, feeling a holy hush.

Of trusting God together and choosing to follow Peace.
Letting Holy Spirit lead us and re-awaken dreams.
Of finding a new level of passion, of love, and joy.
Reminding each other that God has us and to Just Breathe!
