Chronic illness is draining. There have been days when I've cried out, "God, just take this from me!" His answer thus far has been a firm but kind, "Not yet." Sometimes that frustrates me. Other days, like today, I am reminded that He has built my character and my faith in ways I never would have experienced without the suffering. So, perhaps, the inner healing is what matters in this life for His plan. I think that's so true that we often want healing on a surface level, preferably instantly, while God wants to do a deeper work in our hearts- "Our flesh cries out, but it's our souls that need to be heard!" I also love the reminder that God doesn't want to do things "half-way" and we should not settle too easily.
