DAY TWELVE of 31 Days of Becoming Queen... a Five Minute Friday post.

This is Day Twelve of the #Write31Days series, 31 Days of Becoming Queen of Giving the Benefit of the Doubt... this is also a Five Minute Friday post, which simply means I set a timer and free write for five minutes flat on the one-word prompt which this week is: PRAISE

So how are we doing, sweet readers?

This is a much needed, timely topic and I know it can feel a bit heavy because --gah! We all need the reminder to give the benefit of the doubt!

I saw our word prompt and knew immediately the direction we would go because when I am the most frustrated or angry, hurt or feeling misunderstood... it's praise and worship that can adjust my attitude the fastest and help snap me back into my right (read: Christlike) mind!
Worship and praise and prayer... it's like the holy trifecta in helping us get back to center, right?

For me... I need to make time to enter into these three practices on a daily basis anyway. But when I know the potential is high for me to have a conflict or hard conversation, I need to praise God before, during, and after!

Praising God reminds me that He is Who He says He is and He can do what He says He can do. (It also reminds me that I am not Him... just on the real.)

I think in the midst of tempers rising and tongues flying, when our flesh tries to be the boss and our hearts feel hurt, the last thing we often think of is God.

We talked yesterday about Perspective and how we need to not just limit things to our own point of view!

We need other peoples' perspectives and ultimately, we need to ask the Lord what HIS is regarding whatever situation is before us, crowding our mind and stealing our peace.

As I have put into practice
what I am preaching here,
I can assure you,
--Praise has helped!

It has sprung up under my breath
and been blasted on high in my car...
it has carried me and covered me
and helped to readjust my Attitude
as well as my Altitude...

Praying and worshiping God...
being willing to give
a sacrifice of praise
when I am just not feeling it
or when I am feeling all the feels
that are not so much holy or good...
this brings me up higher...
draws me closer to Him
and where He is,
there is always an abundance
of grace and blessings
and, yes --the benefit of the doubt!

The FMF lowdown: The gathering happens on Twitter on Thursday nights & then we write our hearts out & hit publish all over the interwebs on Thursday & Friday (& sometimes on Tuesdays!) It's where we encourage & uplift... where we share prayer requests & praise reports... where we talk food & friends & we find support & kindred hearts. It's where we are reminded that life is good & God is good & we're not alone... & then we all write for five minutes flat, a flash mob of wordsmiths letting our hearts & our fingers do the talking tapping & we hit publish before we can second-guess it all away. We'd love to have you join us!

  1. Exactly, this is true! We already have too much darkness and destruction around us, so we need to adjust our perspective and praise is an effective way to do that. Thanks for sharing!

    1. SO true, Katha! (Also - I read your post and oh my goodness... you have a beautiful way with words, my friend!)

  2. This is so true. Praise can change my perspective, my hope, and me! It's especially effective when played loudly as it drowns out the enemy and causes him to flee!

    1. While I am not a loud person... OFTEN times, my Praise is LOUD to drown out the enemy and shift the atmosphere so he has to flee! xoxo

  3. I have always loved the attitude - altitude quote. Inspiring. Keep it up! You are a blessing.

    1. LOL! Thanks so much, Karen! I haven't heard the quote before --at least not that I remember... I thought I was being clever but either way I love it too! It's a great visual reminder of what Praise can do! Thanks so much for stopping by!

  4. Praise can be a gift in the midst of so much of life!

    1. Yes and Amen... it's the one thing we can bring Him, right?

  5. Thank you for sharing!!

    1. Thank YOU for taking this journey with us! May we all be on our way to becoming queens of giving the benefit of the doubt!

  6. You are so right praise will Center us. I have really learned thatseeing the other side, the other person's perspective is a real diffuser of anger and frustration. Thanks for your thoughts here.

    1. It's funny how it can diffuse it so quickly --even if it doesn't change your own mind or perspective. Simply giving space to hear also gives space to breathe! And yes and amen about praise Centering us! Thanks for stopping by!

  7. The Holy Trifecta...I LOVE that!

    1. LOL! Thanks, brother! I cracked up myself when I tapped that out! ;)

  8. Praise is the perfect perspective changer. Thank you for this reminder today.

    1. It works every time, right? (If we let it!) Thanks so much for stopping by, Mary! xoxo
