31 Days of Becoming the Queen of Giving the Benefit of the Doubt...

***

I know!?  No one is more surprised than me, you guys!

I was pretty adamant that I was not playing along this year!  I refused to even talk to God about it! (Yeah... I'm grown up like that!) But it seems as October approaches, I just can't outrun this challenge!

If you've been around the blogosphere much at all, then you probably have heard of the annual #Write31Days challenge.

The Challenge goes out to writers/bloggers everywhere, and the idea is to pick ONE TOPIC and write about that one thing, - Every. Single. Day. - for 31 days (aka October).

My first attempt at this challenge was back in 2012 and I have participated in every year since then! The first few years, I loved it! Then it became a true Challenge, but I embraced it because I knew it was good for me as a writer, even if I was the only one who benefited! The last couple of years, life has felt too full, too hectic, too draining. But the Lord tends to boss me around about it so...

This year? Well, as I said --I was hoping to sit it out.

As I watched the topic surface online and listened to blogger friends talk about their plans, I just kept scrolling and hoped God hadn't noticed!  (He did.  He did notice.)

This season has been full of change and twists and turns... full of loss and grieving and laying things down... I am an internal processor and there are plenty of things that I have yet to work through, but one thing I have learned is this... He is the boss of me, and much of what I write here for you really ends up being for me (too?)!

In the past year or so, I can't tell you how often I found myself whispering this over and over under my breath:
"I'm becoming the Queen of the Benefit of the Doubt!"
While this is true... it hasn't always been easy. It doesn't always look glamorous or fair... but My Honey and I, --we have said it for decades and (mostly!) we mean it: We are not easily offended.

I think when we combine this truth with the call and desire to Be Love and to simply be kind... well, this is the journey to becoming a Queen (or King) of Giving the Benefit of the Doubt!

So I invite you to join me on this journey of becoming... of remembering two things that it seems many have forgotten in our day and age!

Those two things have helped to shape me into a Queen of Giving the Benefit of the Doubt... and I believe they will make a significant difference both in the living out of our daily lives, as well as in the long-term living out the Life He has in mind for us! (Read: Good... Abundant... Joyful... Loving.)

So hopefully, along the way, we will become more mindful of purposefully attempting to be kind and to not be so easily offended!

Extending the Benefit of the Doubt is drenched in Grace and Hope and focusing on seeing things from not just my own (limited) perspective... but from yours, or 'theirs', and ultimately, His!

Let's hope to become Love... to become Grace...
to become more like Him!
