DAY TWENTY ONE of 31 Days of Life Happens... and so We Pray! PARK - A Five Minute Friday post

I normally set Thursday evenings aside to connect with my tribe at #fmfparty over on Twitter before Kate gives us the prompt, however My Honey and I were asked to help take care of three of the most amazing tiny humans on earth, sooo... (I missed y'all!)

This is Five Minute Friday (- a five minute timed free write) and our One Word Prompt for the day is: PARK

{GO}

I missed out on the party tonight on Twitter because, yet again, we were double triple-booked.

It's fine.  It was something we wanted to do... and yet this bossy calendar-keeping is starting to drag me down.

I know about self-care... but I don't always DO it!

I wrote about it not too long ago... about the dangers of being too busy.. About how when He beckons you to rest... whispers softly to come away with Him, or begs you to pay attention and be intentional... well--it's best if you just do it!

And here's the thing:
  Life is ALWAYS Happening!

Things will always be vying for our attention and life comes at us fast and hard, and if we let it boss us around too much it can leave you breathless and disoriented.

There are times when we are called to simply push through... but those are supposed to be far and few between. If we just keep pushing, we will eventually hit a wall and we'll be in need of healing.

No... instead we must take back the reigns... draw in the chaos just a bit... and we must breathe slowly --intentionally, fully.

We must re-evaluate our priorities and check-in with all of our feelings from time to time.

You know, just to be sure.

So after a crazy busy week, a full weekend of pastoring and weddings and church and meetings, even though we were still sick --My Honey and I hopped in the car, held hands as we drove in the rain, and headed straight for our favorite Park for a little escape celebration!

It was our 24th Wedding Anniversary on Monday and we took a little time out to Rest together... to meander amongst the winding river and all the glory dripping from trees... to sit in the silence and allow it to refill us and refuel us and remind each other of this one thought:

"When Life Happens...
      I'm so glad there is you!"

We have lived over half of our lives side by side and heart to heart now and what we say in pre-martital counseling sessions is true:
It really DOES get better and better!

And our life? This season? Yeah... it's nothing we would have pictured... it's harder in some ways, and just different in others.

But our life? This season? It's exactly where we are meant to be! We truly are better together!

Life came at us again last weekend and yet...

We have learned over the years of the power of an Autumn stroll through a Waterfront Park, walking hand in hand, looking up, silently praying, and whispering sweet thanksgivings for the way Life just keeps unfolding, so full of love and grace.

Sometimes it takes just a little drizzle to wash things away and wipe the slate clean! A walk in the rain is sometimes exactly the respite you need to recenter and revive.

{STOP}

I'm always a little nervous when I plan to still use the Five Minute Friday word prompts within the series because, who can know, right? ("Bacon", anyone?) But we had just so happened spent some time in a Park this week, searching for a bit of solitude and refreshing.

In other news:

I am honored to be included in another 31 Days series written by Mary Hill.  She is doing 31 Days of Christian Women Bloggers Who Change Lives & Glorify Jesus & Five Minute Friday. Click HERE to read our interview and learn a bit more about why I blog over in her corner of the interwebs at Mary-andering Creatively - Where Creativity and Love Meet!

Linking up with Kate Motaung and the #fmfparty Community today.  Five Minute Fridays gives us the chance to dive right in and share what He puts on our hearts! Click here to read what others have to say about "PARK"

The FMF lowdown: The gathering happens on Twitter on Thursday nights & then we write our hearts out & hit publish all over the interwebs on Thursday & Friday (& sometimes on Tuesdays!) It's where we encourage & uplift... where we share prayer requests & praise reports... where we talk food & friends & we find support & kindred hearts. It's where we are reminded that life is good & God is good & we're not alone... & then we all write for five minutes flat, a flash mob of wordsmiths letting our hearts & our fingers do the talking tapping & we hit publish before we can second guess it all away.

We'd love to have you join us!

    How lovely to be reminded of the seasons in our lives, at the very time when God's glory is seen in some of the most beautiful sights ever. I hope you're able to slow down a bit and enjoy some quiet time to recharge.

    1. Oh yes! Please do! It's such a gorgeous time of year! (We are way out west and as much as I long to see the East Coast in the Fall... things aren't too shabby during Autumn in these parts, as you can see!) ;)

Yes, truly powerful, and connecting with His presence in it like that, also very empowering. Thanks for the share!
