DAY SEVEN of 31 Days of Life Happens... and so We Pray! A Five Minute Friday post

Happy Friday, y'all!

I always feel like this is such a risk to hope and assume that whatever One Word Prompt that Kate picks will work its' way in to the theme of my 31Days series each October! But most of the time, it has flowed flawlessly. (Except for when it was 'Bacon'. But still. It's worth the risk!)

I am setting my timer and hovering my fingertips over keys, praying that the word will be seamless in how it fits right in... let's go!

This is Five Minute Friday (- a five minute timed free write) and our One Word Prompt for the day is: TEST

{GO}

I see the word prompt and I almost can't believe it!

Test.

Isn't that what we all sort of assume is happening to us when Life comes straight for us?

When Life Happens and Storms come and a Suddenly knocks us a bit off balance...

When we are facing an unknown, or walking a dark Valley, or dazed and confused and blindsided a bit?

Somehow the enemy of our souls whispers loud enough that surely this must be some sort of test from God and surely we will fail.

Sometimes it is the enemy just in our thoughts... but sometimes we are unfortunate to have friends like Jobs' and they put familiarity and voice and tempo to the lies that God is mean and vindictive and that we probably deserve this trial or sickness or loss or brokenness anyway.

Tested... tried... (convicted and condemned.)

Defensiveness and an all out War can become our knee-jerk reaction, but the best Battle Plan at our disposal is Prayer!

Life Happens... and so we pray!

We take whatever 'test' or trial that we are facing and we grab it by the scruff of the neck and we march it right up to Jesus and ask Him what He thinks of it.  This situation... this problem... this misunderstanding, or injustice, or heartbreak... this slamming us up against the rocks!

When we run it straight to Him, we lessen the risk of listening to lies and coming to our own conclusions.

When we go running to Him... we always find Him running toward us, with arms wide open, ready to be our defense!

I was talking with friends yesterday and we were saying how so very often we may THINK we want the Lord to simply make things easy, but the truth of the matter is that we grow the most through the Hard.

I believe we give 'credit' to God for many things that are not His doing.

Life Happens and so often we blame Him...

We assume that He is testing us at best, or forsaking and abandoning us at worst.

Instead, my prayer is that you will see that whenever Life Happens and Hard comes right at you fast and furious, that the very best thing you can do is to turn to God in prayer.

It's in your partnering with Him through any test or trial, that you will grow and mature... that your faith will be strengthened (after it is stretched) and that you will truly come out Victorious... an Overcomer... a Winner... a Water Walker!

Let it be so, Lord!
Let it be so!

{STOP}

Well now... that one worked quit well, don't you think?

Remember, our weekend posts this month will be a bit shorter because, hello R&R! Saturdays will serve to sort of wrap up the weeks posts, and Sundays will be a bit of Listening Prayer!

Tomorrow we are going to talk about two tools that can help transform your prayer life into something meaningful and powerful --and who doesn't want that, right? I hope to 'see' you then!

Linking up with Kate Motaung and the #fmfparty Community today.  Five Minute Fridays gives us the chance to dive right in and share what He puts on our hearts! Click here to read what others have to say about "TEST"

The FMF lowdown: The gathering happens on Twitter on Thursday nights & then we write our hearts out & hit publish all over the interwebs on Thursday & Friday (& sometimes on Tuesdays!) It's where we encourage & uplift... where we share prayer requests & praise reports... where we talk food & friends & we find support & kindred hearts. It's where we are reminded that life is good & God is good & we're not alone... & then we all write for five minutes flat, a flash mob of wordsmiths letting our hearts & our fingers do the talking tapping & we hit publish before we can second guess it all away.

We'd love to have you join us!

    1. I love you so, sweet friend! The only (--well, one of the only!) problem with writing a 31 Days series is that it cuts into our reading 31 Days series time! ;)

    Yes, this is so my life right now. It's been very hard but I feel so much growth. Thank you for the reminder to keep walking those hard things straight to Him.

    1. Oh yes... we hate it.... but we love it, right? I mean - if we could avoid some of the hard that would be great, but the longer I walk with Him the more I can look back and see those are the deepest, truest growing seasons! Praying for you, Carrie!

  7. Karrilee, what a great post. I loved the picture of taking those things that are the catalyst for lies in our thoughts, and dragging them by the scruff of the neck straight to Jesus to see what He thinks of them. That image so resonated with me! And that "takin'-no-guff" attitude? Yep, that is what I need more of. :)

    Thanks, friend!
