When He Comes to Heal... a Five Minute Friday post

You guys! I was all set. I even told the Hubby that I had plans of partying AND writing on Thursday night. Like in the olden days.  So he made himself a fishing date with a friend and I had the house to myself. I was early to the party on Twitter and while I waited for everyone to show up --well, I got distracted in all the best ways by a full house! (Read: my Mama... my girlie... and my grand puppy!)

But it's a step in the right direction. It is leading me back to (que heavenly choir!) a glorious routine! Maybe next week I will actually get to chat live. Maybe.

This is Five Minute Friday (- a five minute timed free write) and our One Word Prompt for the day is: HEAL

{GO}

I was sick last week.

Like - all week. In bed.

I am not 'good' at being sick, mostly because I have been blessed with good health and have not been laid out flat too many times. So I try not to complain.

Last week, however... I got slammed

It was most likely just a virus of some kind. Nothing really major --and yet, combined with the sneak attack on my emotions and mind too, I felt ransacked and violated by an enemy who just never, ever let's up or backs off.

(Read: Taylor Swift. "Like. Ever.")

What I tend to forget is that when Jesus comes to heal, He means business.

He paid the price and I can't understand why we don't walk in our healing all the time. Oh how I wish we would.

I don't have insight into why some prayers are answered immediately, some take their own sweet (read: NOT!) time, and some seem to go unanswered all together but I do know that when Jesus said, "It is finished!" I am just a crazy-faith-girl enough to believe that He meant what He said.

I could list off verse after verse about healing and it would cause your faith to arise... I have a whole journal of scriptures on healing and we tend to take it like medicine.  But when we are sick --really sick, we want instant results from an instant God. We want what we think we need and we want it now.

But often times when we cry out for healing... sometimes He works from way down deep on the inside, before He ever thinks of touching the surface. Sometimes the healing must begin at the very core of who you are... or who you think you may be.

Sometimes the healing has nothing to do with the shell of skin we walk around in.

Our flesh cries out,
but it's our souls that need to be heard!

We desire to be healed
but He desires that we will be WHOLE!

Inside out.
Through and through.

I wrote about it earlier this week, how He is just so gentle with us but how He won't just let things slide.  He lovingly, bluntly corrected me on something that was so below the surface, I couldn't pinpoint what it was. Oh but He could. He knew.  And in the mere whispering it softly, and coercing it towards the Light, I felt a release.

Sometimes we walk around and we are like the blind man whom Jesus healed. He had the healing in part and his eyes were just beginning to see. He saw people like trees, walking.

He could have rejoiced at the healing and went on his way - but Jesus is not a half-way God and He desires to make us whole!

It's just sometimes, He starts in places that we don't think need fixing and He heals wounds that we thought were long scarred over.

Sometimes the healing is just beginning but we think it's as good as it will get.

We are a people who tend to settle too soon, but that was never our call.

We are longing for comfort zones and no more sickness,
but He is longing for walks on the water and an abundant life!

We think we want just enough... but He keeps trying to hand us the keys to the Kingdom that swing wide the gates and open up the doors!

{STOP}

You guys, I can't stop singing this this week:

Spontaneous Worship/Bethel Music

I wish everyone who prayed for healing would get up and walk... that cancer never won... that depression or the flu or emotional scars from years of abuse would just disappear at the mention of His name.

Here's the thing: I think He wishes that, too.
One day, --one day that will be the truth we know!

May His Kingdom Come...
  May His Will Be Done...
On Earth AS IT IS IN Heaven!

Linking up with Kate Motaung and the #fmfparty Community today.  Five Minute Fridays gives us the chance to dive right in and share what He puts on our hearts! Click HERE to read what others have to say about: "HEAL"
The FMF lowdown: The gathering happens on Twitter on Thursday nights & then we write our hearts out & hit publish all over the interwebs on Thursday & Friday (& sometimes on Tuesdays!) It's where we encourage & uplift... where we share prayer requests & praise reports... where we talk food & friends & we find support & kindred hearts. It's where we are reminded that life is good & God is good & we're not alone... & then we all write for five minutes flat, a flash mob of wordsmiths letting our hearts & our fingers do the talking tapping & we hit publish before we can second guess it all away. We'd love to have you join us!

I'm also linking up with:
#FreshMarketFriday... how adorable is that?

Last month, I read through my own ebook entitled 31 Days of Resting in God ...it's easier/harder than you think!  I read it out loud over Voxer for a friend who commutes and it was full of Tips and Truths that I needed to be reminded of in this season! You can purchase it by clicking here or grabbing it from the side bar to the right if Rest is something you know you need, but just keep putting off as well!

Whether it is physical healing, emotional, spiritual, mental, financial... whatever you need, please know that I am praying for your healing --however He wants to hand it to you! I do believe He wants you WHOLE --even more than you want you whole!

Swing wide the gates and open up the doors...
Let the King come in!

I want to jump up and shout "Hallelujah!" after I read your words, but my darling hubs would think I am crazy. Thank you so much for this reminder tonight.

"We are longing for comfort zones and no more sickness,

but He is longing for walks on the water and an abundant life!"

I often forget this part. I want it to be easy. Jesus never promised ease. He promised to be with us and never leave us. I am so blessed to be your neighbor at FMF this week. -Jolene

  2. Love this, Karrilee, and I hope the virus has left you!

I figure the 'why aint we healed' thing is like a mountain.

Jesus is on top, reaching down a hand to us.

And we are supposed to reach down a hand to help someone below us.

Might be a dumb metaphor, but it's the best I can do.

    1. Brother Andrew, I have to admit I thought of you as I was writing this post because --yes, the virus has passed and I am feeling so much better, but I thought of how you have battled and how you choose to fight on... and how I am always so blessed to find you here! I love that visual of Jesus pulling us up... and us, following suit, offering a hand to others! It's not dumb at all... it is beautiful, and it is Kingdom!

      Praying for you and Barbara!

  3. Really thought-provoking and helpful post. I think that's so true that we often want healing on a surface level, preferably instantly, while God wants to do a deeper work in our hearts- "Our flesh cries out, but it's our souls that need to be heard!" I also love the reminder that God doesn't want to do things "half-way" and we should not settle too easily. Visiting from FMF (#25)

  5. Amen! This especially: "but Jesus is not a half-way God and He desires to make us whole!" Oh yes, right there with you in the searing but freeing Light...same direction in our posts this week. Praying over you right now...so sorry to hear you've been so sick.

    1. Thanks so much, Anna! I am feeling better --using wisdom in not jumping right back in to everything though! Isn't it so hopeful to remember that He doesn't do anything half-way? I know it is for me! Blessings, my friend!

  6. So guard you are feeling better. I hardly get sick too. Oh and so much THIS: "on't have insight into why some prayers are answered immediately, some take their own sweet (read: NOT!) time, and some seem to go unanswered all together but I do know that when Jesus said, "It is finished!" I am just a crazy-faith-girl enough to believe that He meant what He said." Love you friend! I'm way down in the 59 spot.

  7. "Sometimes the healing has nothing to do with the shell of skin we walk around in."

Yep, that's a word for me, straight from God's throne through you.

Physical discomfort sucks. Chronic illness is draining. There have been days when I've cried out, "God, just take this from me!" His answer thus far has been a firm but kind, "Not yet." Sometimes that frustrates me. Other days, like today, I am reminded that He has built my character and my faith in ways I never would have experienced without the suffering. So, perhaps, the inner healing is what matters in this life for His plan.

    1. Right? I mean -gah! When I wrote it - I knew it was from the Throne... because I just can't come up with this stuff! ;) We want to be healed, He wants us WHOLE! Bam...

Love you, friend! I'm praying that soon His answer will be "Yes, now!" instead of "Not yet."

  8. Those things so far below the surface we can't even pinpoint them... I'm grateful for the Spirit who keeps prodding until we feel it. He is so good to us. Hope you are up and well again. (Visiting from FMF #79)
