There is no Limit to His Love... a Five Minute Friday post

A couple of days ago it was Ash Wednesday...

Can I be honest with you and tell you that I really don't know for sure what this means. I am a newcomer to Lent (and Advent and the liturgical things.) but not a newcomer to Christ.

I tried on religion as a young Christian and thankfully shook free from that bondage years ago.  Now I am clothed in His righteousness (not my own) --I am clothed in relationship and while Lent has become popular and trendy, I don't do it as a ritualistic practice.

However, I know full well how it can quickly turn into that so I was praying earlier this week about what to give up.  I read THIS POST by Eugene Cho and THIS ONE by Osheta Moore and their words confirmed what the Lord had already whispered to my heart...

God oh so clearly spoke softly to me that it wasn't so much what He wanted me to give up this year, but it was more what He wanted me to add back in!

--Like those blessed 5 minutes of silence at the beginning of each day... walks outside... lectio davina... simple easy (slower!) things that can so subtly get pushed aside.

Things that give way to all our Doing, but steal so much from any of our Being!

So instead of joining in on the Twitter party last night for #fmfparty... I stopped all my doing, and I allowed myself to simply BE.  And then, this prompt...

This is Five Minute Friday (- a five minute timed free write) and our One Word Prompt for the day is: LIMIT

{GO}

My first thoughts are of how there is just no limit to His love.

He pursues us and romances us and longs for our hearts --for ALL of our hearts.

In the light of Lent and of all our going without and sacrificing, I feel like what He really wants to know is not what will you give up, but when will you give in?

When will you remember that He is trustworthy and true...
that He is a good, good Father and that you gave Him your heart already... I think on this day He is saying, Give it back! Give it all to me... don't hold anything back!

So whatever is clouding your vision and stressing your days... whatever is stealing your peace or causing you jealousy, anger, bitterness or hurt... I feel like He is wanting to woo you once again and He is whispering soft in your ear...

You are MINE!
Have you forgotten?

I bought you with a price and you gave Me your heart... I laid down My life and rose again so that I could be with you, My beloved, My Bride!

I long to be with you... to sit with you and walk with you... to dance and to romance and to fill you up and take you out and show you off!

I long to be your One true Valentine... I AM that I Am and I am the lover of your soul and the keeper --the safe keeper of your heart!

Can you hear it? The beating of His heart for you and the passionate pursuit to win you... again and again. Over and over.  He is after you, my friend... and He will have you!

He loves whatever you will give Him and gladly pulls you close... but He longs to hold ALL of your heart in His nail scarred hands.

You can trust Him... He's not like any other and He will not let you down!

In fact, during worship at my Bible Study this week, I saw a picture of a heart. It was healed and whole on the inside, but shattered and broken all around the surface.

* I asked the Lord what He was trying to say, and this is what I heard:

"Many feel broken and in pieces even after they've given Me the key to their heart and invited Me in to heal them. What they see as broken and falling apart, I have actually cemented the broken pieces into place and made them into a beautiful mosaic.  They are like a multi-faceted gemstone and it's in their brokenness that My Glory shines through from every angle!"

{STOP}

Um... yeah... * This is officially when my Five Minutes were up, but I had to finish...  Grace, please.
(And #yourewelcome!)
Such a good word, right?

I am praying His Hands
hold your heart
and His Love
overwhelms you!
May He win you...
over and over,
again and again!

Happy Valentine's Day weekend, sweet readers!

Linking up with Kate Motaung and the #fmfparty Community today.  Five Minute Fridays gives us the chance to dive right in and share what He puts on our hearts! Click HERE to read what others have to say about: "LIMIT"

The FMF lowdown: The gathering happens on Twitter on Thursday nights & then we write our hearts out & hit publish all over the interwebs on Thursday & Friday (& sometimes on Tuesdays!) It's where we encourage & uplift... where we share prayer requests & praise reports... where we talk food & friends & we find support & kindred hearts. It's where we are reminded that life is good & God is good & we're not alone... & then we all write for five minutes flat, a flash mob of wordsmiths letting our hearts & our fingers do the talking tapping & we hit publish before we can second guess it all away. We'd love to have you join us!

Great post- I love that: the question God asks "is not what will you give up, but when will you give in?" My word for the year is "surrender" and I'm thinking a lot at the moment about what it means to give everything to God. I love the picture of the heart too.
And I didn't really know what Ash Wednesday was about either but I've been doing a Lent Bible reading plan at shereadstruth.com and day 1 of that has a really good explanation.

    1. Thanks Carly... I will look that up! Surrender is such a great word... hard at times, I am sure... but oh the amazing freedom that comes when we truly surrender! Love that! Thanks so much for stopping by!

  2. Love, love, love! THIS: "Many feel broken and in pieces even after they've given Me the key to their heart and invited Me in to heal them. What they see as broken and falling apart, I have actually cemented the broken pieces into place and made them into a beautiful mosaic. They are like a multi-faceted gemstone and it's in their brokenness that My Glory shines through from every angle!" Lent is the 40 days not including Sunday's leading up to Easter. Yes for not giving something up but taking something on for him. Love you friend! I'm in the #10 spot this week.

    1. Aw, thanks Gayl! Isn't that the difference between how we often see things, and how He does? Giving up vs. Giving in? I think that'll preach! ;) Blessings!
