When You Believe in Living Art, You Will Find It Everywhere You Go!

It's just truth --the statement Jesus made about seeking and finding! Him - of course! If we seek Him, we will find Him... but also this: we will find Him in so many things, in so many ways!  Whatever it is that our heart is longing for... if we seek it out, chances are really good we will begin seeing it everywhere we look. Chances are really good it's been all around us the whole time!

Lately - (read: in the past couple of years really!) God has been speaking to me about Art... about how we all make it and live it and how it is everywhere, all the time, if we will but slow to see it!

If we will change our drive, shift gears once in awhile and, you know... look out of the box in where we may find Him, He will be found!

He has been awakening my spirit to see Him outside of the 'norm' for over a decade and my days are happiest when I have spent at least a part of them outside, amidst His lovely creation. This world is full of art that points us back to the truth of Who is in control... of Who is holding this whole thing together anyway...

And oh my goodness, we find Him everywhere!

My Honey and I took a quick overnight trip out of town. This church planting stuff keeps us a little more 'grounded' (as in - not traveling) more than we anticipated and we were overdue!

So we set out to see some sights... to relax and reconnect with each other, one on one... and to be and find Art, wherever we went! (FYI... Tacoma did not disappoint!)

From Mount Rainier being all showy-offy and braggy from every angle, to the homeless man on Pacific...

...from the Chihuly Glass Bridge in Tacoma offering art both for the eyes and for the ears, to the breathtakingly beautiful trees and flowers in Point Defiance Park...

We found Art alive and living and pointing us back to the One who made Art first... to the One who makes art still! For He is the potter, and we are the clay and when you believe in living art out loud with your life, you really WILL find it --find Him, everywhere you go!

...and speaking of making art, I wanted to share a bit of newsy news and a deal - because, hello - Art + A Deal = Magic!

OK, maybe not really... but it definitely equals You're Welcome!

  2. Beautiful photos...YES! To all the beautiful "ART" you find in so many wonderful places! I found that to be true since I started with Ann Voskamp's "One Thousand Gifts"...counting the gifts (or blessings, if you will) EVERY SINGLE DAY has opened my eyes to the fact that God gives amazing gifts to us all the time; many are found right in front of our eyes in the beauty of God's masterpieces; in the love/life of a child (grandchild!); in the blessings of friends and the gifts they give, etc. etc. etc.

Thank you for sharing how he is working in your life; and helping us all to realize just how much He loves and cares for us in the gifts he blesses us with!!!

  3. You and I are a kindred spirit as I am the same way. I love being outdoors and seeing His beauty all around. I love art. I am a photographer so it's natural to me to look for beauty.

  6. Such beautiful pics, Karrilee. So incredible that He shines through all creation and when we take the time to still and see it - just too sweet. I'm staring at the lilies on my kitchen table that burst open last night and they make me smile - He makes me smile. Thanks for pointing us to Him all around us. Hugs!

  7. Yes, friend, yes! Art really is everywhere! It's bern so fun to see it all over here in Nashville. Something so cool, holy and artful about listening to live music and just taking the time to take it all in here..to simply be still!

  9. Love your pics! I agree about getting out and seeing the art around us and seeing God's creation. That is always my cure for bad moods or bad days, getting out and praising God for His art. Thanks for sharing!

  10. Yes, how I love looking for art and beauty throughout the course of my days. My eldest daughter and I are big nature watchers. We get excited over seeing a bunny, a bird, or a butterfly in our yard. Thank you for this reminder to seek out beauty! -Jolene

    1. Thanks Kelly! It had been way too long since I lingered in such a garden that offered so many different kinds of beauty... with an actual camera in hand! It was like heaven, and some of the shots? Well - I still can't get over them! Thanks for stopping by!
