"Get Ready! Get Ready! Get Ready!" - Five Minute Friday

Once again... I had plans, ya'll! I had cleared my schedule and planned an easy dinner and I was going to be sitting right here in this chair at 5ish to chat and party it up with the #fmfparty crew... but you know how it goes. The day gets away from us and your All Growed Up Girlie stops by and plans are pushed aside to catch up and hang out... I mean, I love you all but come on? You get it, right?  So - it's later now, and I missed most of the party... but here I sit... ready to write!

Anyway - here we go: Five Minute Friday - Our Word Prompt is: READY

{GO}

So, it's no secret really. I have written about it several times over the summer...

God has had me in a season of waiting... a season of silence...
(apparently, until -well, soonish!)

About a month ago, in one of the rare chatty conversations with the Lord, He spoke this to my heart as I journaled:
"I have let you write the way you speak because this has always been more about your speaking than it has been about your writing."

I wasn't sure what that meant exactly, but it's not rocket science. (and suddenly I was oh so thankful for a season of waiting and silence!)

I felt a few promptings to do a few things which - to be honest - I blew off. I was finally enjoying this season of silence... this slower non-bossy pace of living. I didn't want it to end quite yet!

(I believe they call that complacency... which is never much good for the Kingdom!)

So a couple of weeks ago, a friend asked me what God had been saying to me and I told her what He said about my writing. She immediately encouraged me in the pursuit of speaking and asked what I would talk about.

Earlier last week, she sent me a copy of a letter she sent on to the director of MOPS...

I was humbled and blessed that this friend, a gifted speaker and teacher herself, would give me such an endorsement. Also... once again, I was so thrilled to be in a season of waiting because, a speaker? This is not something that was on my radar at all. But the more I think about it, and imagine it not only on my own, but with my Honey too... I think, of course!

A few days ago while in prayer, I asked God if He had anything He wanted to say to me. (Remember, He's been pretty quiet as of late...) Immediately I heard in my spirit, "Get Ready! Get Ready! Get Ready!"

Hmmm... an hour later, I received an email from the Speaker Coordinator of MOPS and we are setting up a time to chat.

I don't know where this thing will go, but YOU GUYS!!!?!

{STOP}

This is something I believe the Lord is doing but honestly, writing is so romantic because I can do it in my PJs without having to have my hair done, right? I can write my heart out and you can take it or leave it and I don't see your reaction, or have to battle all of that self doubt! I know, I know! I gave that up... I remember.

I covet your prayers as I gingerly step out of a season of waiting, and into this new realm of possibilities!

Lead me, Lord. I will follow!

Oh ...the fine print: if you don't know what FMF is!  Five Minute Fridays have been hosted by Lisa Jo Baker.  This week we start gathering over at Kate Motaung's.  FMF is open to anyone, so to learn more about it - and to jump in yourself (the more the merrier!) or just to find a linky to see what everyone is writing about today - click HERE!  The idea is to simply write... for Five Minutes flat... no editing, no deep thinking - or at least REthinking, no spell check - just write! Let it flow! We all write using a prompt that Lisa posts at 10pm Thursday night (EST.)  I'm loving the community of amazing bloggers and the creativity that flows from these magical Five Minutes!

    My heart is rejoicing with you! I can so see you as a speaker and I've never even met you! God speaks through others al the time but when we blow it off we miss the opportunity to be ready for the next big thing that He has been planning all along. I will be praying and can't wait to hear about the next step! Hugs!

    1. Thanks so much Mary! We just don't want to miss Him, right? Although - there is even grace for that! One step at a time... we will walk into our big picture destiny - one step at a time, my friend!

  7. I am so excited for you and can't wait to see how this next step unfolds. Our stories seem similar but opposite. I began with a love for speaking and of sharing with women verbally but God (love those 2 words) has added to my plans, took me out of that comfort zone by tell me to write. I would much rather stand at the front of a room and speak but He has not opened many of those doors yet continues to open doors for writing. He has used this change to bless me in so many ways. Praying for you in your journey

    1. Aw... I love you so, Amy! I was shocked when God opened a door for me long LONG ago to speak... I was shocked that I enjoyed it, but I did. It seemed short lived and writing opened up and I fell in love with the somewhat anonymity of it and now - all these years later, it seems He is calling me/us back to speaking. I appreciate any and all prayers! Praying for all the open doors in your life as well!

  11. Writing wasn't on my radar ten years ago. I was a musician and a college instructor. Then when I was a writer, I thought I was supposed to write non-fiction because the book I labored over for five years was a memoir. Then I stumbled into writing fiction on a whim, and I love it. God guides us into unexpected adventures (that could be a summary of my life) and he knows us far better than we know ourselves. May he bless you on this new adventure!
